Odd thoughts:

• Dual CPU systems work well under Linux.
• Get a 3-button mouse!!
• Support for 3-D sound, 3-D rendering engines etc. may be limited - stick to ATI Rage unless you know what you're doing.
• Avoid anything with "Win" in the name - Winmodems, Winprinters etc. Microsoft mice are OK.
